[He raises his head a little, still looking at Sollux with an odd expression.] Very... happy?

[Enthusiasm isn't the direction he ends up going. Instead he just kind of looks down solemnly to himself, or maybe- it seems solemn at first. His hands in his lap, fingers woven together. He grows a bit silent, and soon a small smile appears on his lips, nodding a little.]

[Sollux' smile falters and he sighs, too] Sorry, that was dickish. I just mean... if he's what makes you happy, it's okay to stay with him. Mindfang can be your friend and move on and find someone else, like you did when you came here.

Part of me feels an obligation towards her though. If not... towards her, than an obligation to how I felt for her before what happened.

Yeah... [He nuzzles lightly against Summoner's shoulder. He wishes he could just resolve this easily, but at least Summoner's sort of talking about it now.] Why, though? Like, why an obligation to how you felt? It's sort of like you broke up with her already and now she's come back and wants to be with you, which... I get, but you don't have to give up something good just because she's hurting, either.

I never meant to fall so hard though, to love her that much, to pity her as I did... I didn't really- break up with her, I did what I had to do, and I didn't stop feeling the way I did- I think- I am pretty sure I pitied her more after what happened.

Yeah, I mean... I guess you didn't break up, but you did move on. I mean, if you want her more, even now, then you should do what makes you feel happy. Someone's going to get hurt either way.
